Notice patterns and plan a practical response.
01
Start with context
A craving is a reason to pause and notice what is happening, not proof of addiction. Record the time, your last meal, the setting and what you wanted. A diary can help you identify your own patterns.
02
Choose a response that fits the situation
If you are hungry, make room for a meal or snack. If the craving is tied to a routine, try changing that routine and see whether it helps. There is no single technique that works for everyone.
- Plan options you enjoy rather than relying on rules alone.
- Avoid treating foods or days as morally good or bad.
- Use a short distraction only if useful; it is not a substitute for eating when hungry.
03
When tracking is not helpful
If food rules cause anxiety, loss of control or restrictive eating, pause the challenge and seek support from a qualified professional. An app can record habits but cannot diagnose or treat an eating disorder.
